Looking To Purchase The Latest TV? Take A Look At The LED TVs
If your previous DLP TV has finally given up and it is now time to shop for a better set, you might find some surprising technological breakthroughs. If it's been some time since you last shopped for a television, you may be confused by all the acronyms that refer to the types of television sets. The many different types of televisions now include Plasma, LCD, DLP, and LED TVs, DLP, LCD, Plasma, and LED TVs. Purchasing a new TV set will also allow you to give up that bothersome box for HD conversion since all the new televisions are digital and HD ready. Nowadays, you can find many different cheap plasma TV deals, but if you want the latest technology, you should look into LED televisions.
In LCD TVs, those little diodes that make up the pixels of the screen were lit from behind with fluorescent tubes. As these fluorescent tubes are on whenever the TV is on, it is often difficult for them to display deep black colors that are necessary for nice sharp pictures. Sometimes this may be due to light leaks and at other times, it may be due to the limitation of fluorescent light. Fluorescent lighting also does not display all the colors in the rainbow, so the colors that can be shown on the screen are therefore limited. This is why fluorescent lighting limits the colors shown on a TV, while LED lighting offers a better range of colors.
There are two different ways the LED lighting can be set up in a LED lit television. One is to have the light emitting diode lights along the edge of the TV screen and this is called an edgelit LED television. The other way is to arrange them behind the screen and this is called a backlit LED TV. If you are concerned about energy consumption, both the edgelit and backlit LED technologies use less power than a fluorescent tube plasma or LCD TV set. If you are looking for an ultra thin technology in your television and pay less, then you would probably want the edge lit LED screen.
While shopping for these televisions, you will find that edgelit TVs are both thinner and cheaper than the backlit screens. If the sharpest deep dark black colors are what you are looking for, then you will want to choose the backlit LED TV set.
If you don't know where to look, you can end up paying up to 50 to 100 percent higher for a LED backlit TV compared to a similar size plasma or LCD TV. To find good LED TV deals, be sure to compare the features and prices at your local electronics store and also at the various online websites for cheap shopping deals.
